What is the difference between a hatha yoga teacher training program and a yoga retreat?

The most obvious differences in all the yoga teacher training courses offered today are their location and the duration of their program. One of the biggest differences is whether it is residential and non-residential yoga teacher training. Residential training is usually one-month intensive training, including accommodation. Non-residential training consists of approximately the same number of hours spread over a longer period of time.

This is a very important point to keep in mind. If you want to study a more generic form of yoga, choosing an Ashtanga Vinyasa or Hatha Yoga course are solid options. But there are so many different styles of yoga that don't hesitate to do a little more research and find the yoga style that best suits you. So go out and take lots of different classes or do a bunch of online yoga classes, and find out which style inspires you the most.

As you search for teacher training retreats, slide the price bar until you find a price that fits your budget. Unlike restorative yoga, which uses accessories such as yoga blocks, blankets and reinforcements to help students release and open their bodies passively, Yin yoga uses a completely unique philosophy. I personally practice Ashtanga yoga, however, my training as a teacher was in Ayurveda and Shivananda Hatha Yoga.

Plus, with travel insurance, you can be sure that your travel plans are protected when you book your teacher training abroad. Each level of training requires a different time commitment, and the one you choose will affect how long it takes to become a certified teacher. Ashtanga, in Sanskrit, means “eight limbs” and can refer to the ancient yoga lifestyle set out in the Patanjali yoga sutras, or to the vigorous style of asana taught by the Pattabhi Jois family at their institute, KPJAYI, in Mysore (India). Embark on an in-depth study of yoga therapy so you can teach yoga around the world (and earn a living teaching yoga as well).

Many yoga teacher training courses now also offer an online yoga training program that can be done before going to the retreat center. To become a certified trauma yoga instructor, you must first complete training that covers the different types of trauma, how they can affect mental health, the comorbidities of trauma and how to adapt your yoga teaching to these populations.
